Prenatal Lactation Consultation

Get educated and informed about breastfeeding before baby arrives

Why prenatal breastfeeding consultation?

Getting educated about breastfeeding requires time and space - it’s like attending a workshop to gain knowledge. It is far more manageable to learn and be prepared before baby arrives. Because it will be a lot to deal with if you have to juggle with your newborn, possibly feeling stressed and overwhelmed, and dealing with postpartum recovery from childbirth.

Reasons to book a prenatal lactation consultation

  1. First time parent: You are expecting your first child and would like to prepare and be well-informed about breastfeeding.

  2. Previous unsuccessful breastfeeding experience: You struggled with breastfeeding before and would like to be better educated and prepared this time around.

  3. Special circumstances: You are expecting a special needs baby.

  4. Multiple babies: You are expecting twins or triplets or more!

  5. Attended an antenatal class but with insufficient breastfeeding topics: Perhaps you have attended a class elsewhere and still quite clueless about lactation. Usually, not all antenatal classes will spend a lot of time on breastfeeding.

  6. Having a general fear and anxiety towards breastfeeding: You may have heard some breastfeeding stories from other mothers that kinda scares you a little. With proper guidance and updated evidence-based knowledge, we can slowly replace fear with confidence.

Personalised for you.

This is the chance for you to address any personal breastfeeding concerns, including any perceived or actual potential barriers to nursing successfully ahead of a baby’s arrival. Get trained lactation advice from one source of truth and understand what are the breastfeeding myths and facts.

It will be an interactive session! We will meet virtually or at the comfort of your home to talk through your specific breastfeeding goals and what to expect during the early weeks of breastfeeding.

A chunk of the session will be spent on updated and evidence-based breastfeeding education. We will also review your past and current medical history, prenatal history, previous breastfeeding history (if any) and this will include do a breast assessment as well.
