From corporate marketing to Lactation Consultant, IBCLC
I did not come from a science background but I have always been intrigued with science and how the human body works. As a child and adult, I’ve always been doing my own studies and research into how things works and that includes our body and brain.
During my early working life, I’ve always knew that I wanted to help people - but I just could not figure out how.
So I built my career into the B2B marketing within the tech space. I rose the ranks, I thrived, I loved my corporate life. Until, eventually, my values did not align with my full time career after a breastfeeding setback with my second child.
Every breastfeeding experiences are different and that’s okay
Breastfeeding my second child was a whole other story. I struggled with both oversupply and undersupply. Then I was diagnosed with mastitis (extremely painful inflammation of breast tissue) 7 times within the first 6 months of my baby’s life. I quickly realized that the confidence I had gained breastfeeding the first time was nowhere to be found the second time.
It was during this time that my interest in mothers and their breastfeeding experiences began to develop. I slowly began to understand the vastness of the highs and lows that so many mothers experience.
