Baby Steps to Parenthood Series

A Parenting and Breastfeeding
Readiness Workshop

Designed to cater to the new era of parenting in Singapore

As the first of its kind, this workshop uniquely combines the importance of partner/spouse relationship, responsive parenting, and breastfeeding to provide new parents with a holistic approach to navigate their new life.

Key topics

  • Going into a new life together as parents require some preparations and alignment, and not many couples have the opportunity to do it, or perhaps may not know how to do it.

In this workshop, we will participate in simple exercises to be aligned together as a couple, so you can be a little more ready to go into parenthood together with love and confidence.

  • Taking care of a newborn can be a mixture of uncertainties and abundant joy. You will learn the importance of being responsive to your baby, that will have lifelong positive effects and benefits.

  • Once baby is being delivered, the first three months of postpartum is known as the Fourth Trimester, where both the mother and baby will go through this transition together.

Learn what Fourth Trimester is like, how the day to day look like and ways to cope and how partners can help.

  • Learn about breastfeeding before baby arrives - this is the time where you can absorb as much information as possible. Breastfeeding is a natural act, but it is a learned skill.

Learn the science behind breastfeeding, benefits, how milk production work, ways to establish breastfeeding journey, latching, positioning and more.

Singapore’s first ever - the only workshop to prepare you to embrace the joy and challenges of parenthood and breastfeeding with confidence and love.

“I went into parenthood, as ready I can be. Little did I know that most of the things that I thought I knew was absolutely against my maternal instincts and that I was told to do things that “modern society” expects us to do.

My workshop content is based on science and lactation clinical experiences. I encourage you to be open to breaking the cycle of harsh parenting methods for a newborn and young infant. We have listened to the many myths of newborn parenting and breastfeeding for a few decades, and I am here to debunk them all with easy-to-digest education and evidence-based information.

Join me in this safe and judgement-free zone, for you to feel more empowered and confident!”

- Eliza, IBCLC

To learn swaddling, bathing, burping and changing diaper for a newborn comes with just a few days of practice in the hospital and at home. Participants’ love notes

“The topics such as fourth trimester, responsive parenting and how partners can help (on top of breastfeeding) is refreshing and less common in Singapore, hence I decided to sign up for it. The class was really well-organized from start to end, and I was glad for the cosy setting to meet with other couples and learn together. After the class, I feel more prepared and confident to breastfeed my baby in future. My partner and I also have a better idea how to support each other through this journey.”

— First time mother to be, 32 weeks pregnant

"I enjoyed Eliza's workshop. The way she delivered the workshop felt very personal because she is a recent mother and she have her own experiences to share. She made me felt like she wanted us to win at parenting and breastfeeding. I like how she infused parenthood and a few real-life scenarios. It made us apply what we learned and also made the knowledge very real. Overall, amazing class! I will definitely recommend to other mummies!”

- Ariel T.

“The breastfeeding pros and cons was laid out very well. I was not someone who likes to attend classes. Now that I have attended this workshop and went through a few real-life scenarios, I kind of know how to deal with it at least. And, don’t feel that husbands are not needed in a breastfeeding workshop, it does not work that way. Breastfeeding is team work.”

— Ken, husband to a 39 weeks pregnant wife

“A lot of my friends do pumping, not a lot of my friends direct latch, so the practical part like breastfeeding positions and understanding the importance of deep latch and all, are very informative and beneficial for me. I recommend parents-to-be to attend this workshop. It is a lot better than reading online resources.”

— Jessica, 39 weeks pregnant

“I have gained a lot of knowledge from this workshop! Pace was good, Eliza did not rush through anything and explained everything well. I had zero knowledge about breastfeeding and it is my first child. And I love the reminders throughout the course that all babies are different and that all of us are taking on a new role in life so don’t stress yourself. Thanks Eliza!”

— Christina

  • It is highly recommended for fathers-to-be to join the workshop so they can benefit from the knowledge and be equipped on what to expect and how to help mummies!

    - Christina

  • If you are into a more not so tensed-up course, this is the course to attend! Filled with fun and interactive activities by Eliza!

    - Zhihao & Cuihong
